Q. How am I being tracked?
You create digital footprints any time you use the Internet, mobile apps and social media games. This can be done by cookies that are downloaded each time you visit a website and accept the use of the website. Other ways your digital footprints are created and tracked is by allowing location tracking through various applications. Many times, people are unaware that they are allowing websites and applications to track them. It is important to understand what permissions you are giving to applications and websites. It could be as simple as a company tracking the websites you visit to push tailored advertisements on the webpages you access; however, it could also be something more malicious where hackers are trying to lure you into providing sensitive information or credit card numbers for their financial gain. Q. Where do I check on tracking?
A great place to start is with any mobile devices you use. Check the settings in all of your devices to determine what apps you are giving permission to track your location. This applies to computers and laptops too, so check your location settings there as well. Internet browsers are another way to track your location.
